On what was an absolutely glorious sunny day in London, a group of 6 Fahan Alumni gathered at Upstairs at the Department Store a private club in Brixton, such a lovely use of the space was courtesy of Fahan Alumni, Bronwyn Lowenthal (Class of ’89). The Fahanies came from all over the UK, and we had Yumiko Ishikawa join us from Dublin, Ireland. With the exception of the youngster in the group, Emily Williams (nee Hurburgh – Class of ‘93), the girls were all representing Classes ‘87, ‘88 and ‘89!
The group spent the next 6.5 hours reminiscing about their fabulous Fahan memories, swapping contact details, updating one another on life events and feeling deep gratitude to the school for such a deep and enriching education and for this ability to have a reunion. While the girls started at the Club, they moved later in the evening to another terrific spot further down the road, for a superb Thai dinner.
I gave a State of the School address, then we listened to how all these Fahanies had come to reside in Europe and worked out how we were all connected in true Tasmanian style to one another. Of the 6 girls, 4 had spent time in Nateby, and one had lived in the same home address as another girl!
A huge thank you to Fahan for sponsorship of the event and the Fahan souvenirs the attendees all received, as well as a very special thank you to the attendees who were able to make it, on what was a challenging weekend to traverse London.
Next year the Game Plan is Paris!
